September was a month for grand openings in the North Peace!

North Peace residents celebrated multiple grand openings over the last month, including the Knux Gallery, 548 Trading Co as well as Lakeside Thrift & Consignment.

Fort St. John has had many grand openings take place over the last month. While local businesses often reflect the character and culturr e of a community, they can foster a sense of pride and belonging among residents as well.

 

548 Trading Co. celebrated their grand opening on September 27 at their location at 10055- 100th Avenue, in Fort Saint John. 548 Trading Co is a colorful and dynamic market of indigenous crafts and a lively center for entrepreneurial spirit.


“Supporting local businesses is vital, and this is one you won’t want to miss,” said Vince van Wieringen, Vice President for the Metis Association in Dawson Creek in a social media post. “A big congratulations to the Doig River First Nation and everyone involved in making this vision a reality. Let’s continue to support local and uplift the amazing businesses that strengthen our community.”

Knux Gallery opened its doors and welcomed the community inside on October 4, hosting various artists and their work from around the Peace for the grand opening. Some of the local artists included in the gallery are Violet Andrushas, Loretta Harms, Joy Larstone and Garry Oker. Their wonderful expressions of art and much more are for sale at the new Knux Gallery, located at 10512 101 ave.


Oker was present in the gallery throughout the day, blending colors and adding the final touches to some of his pieces that were on display for the grand opening.

Lakeside Thrift and Consignment celebrated their grand opening on September 14 in Charlie Lake, BC. The store is located at 13091 Neilson Avenue, in Charlie Lake, beside the Canada post and will be open Monday through Saturday, 9 to 5.

 

And finally, the City of Fort St John held the grand opening for the 100th Street Corridor Project on September 28 at the green space at 100 Street and 100 Avenue.


The community was treated to a free lunch which had been provided by Knappett Industries, lawn games and a doodle board had been set up for entertainment while Jody Peck and ElleScriv performed live music.
