North Peace local artist Diana Hofmann welcomed a full house for the opening reception on July 4th, of Peace Gallery North’s latest exhibit “Among Petals and Pebbles.”

Hofmann is a local artist in the North Peace with a love for printmaking, pottery, felting and painting and said she loves to create bold, graphic, symmetrical designs.

Her style draws heavily from folk art, fairytales, and a love for all things whimsical while she finds inspiration in nature including the small, often overlooked details that add magic to everyday. While Diana explores a range of artistic mediums, she’s best known for her work in printmaking.

“My work is the result of a lifetime looking down,” said Diana Hofmann in a statement at the exhibits opening on July 4th.

Hofmann is a German Immigrant who grew up on a farm in Montney, BC, and has recently started to experiment and explore the German art of ‘scherenschnitte’ as an alternative to linocut.

“When I am outdoors, 70 percent of the time my eyes are on the ground admiring the rocks, wildflowers, and insects,” stated Hofmann. “I invite you to share my perspective next time you are outside, to see the small objects and organisms we are so lucky to share this world with.”

Her art is on display and for sale at Peace Gallery North until July 26, but you better hurry as the AHN was told over half of the exhibit has sold already.

The Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, between 11am – 5pm and everyone is welcome to stop by and appreciate her amazing work.
