The local RCMP received a report around 3:50am on January 4, that two individuals were believed to be stealing lumber from a residential construction site located on the 8900 block of 112 Avenue, Fort St. John.

Frontline officers responded immediately and were able to locate and arrest the two suspects who were in the process of loading wood material onto a trailer that was being pulled by a Dodge pickup.

The female suspect was released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date of February 25, according to the media release.

Jean-Paul Roberts was identified as the male suspect and was held for court on January 7 where he faced a charge of Failing to comply with release order.

The Dodge pickup was impounded, and Jean-Paul Roberts received several violation tickets under the BC Moto Vehicle Act according to the media release.

“This is a great example of a vigilant member of the public partnering with the police to intervene in a situation,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Fort St John Media Relations Officer. “All the items loaded on the trailer were returned to the construction site.”
