A familiar face around the council table in Taylor is being celebrated for a big milestone.

Councillor Ponto has reached 20 years of service on council, marking two decades on the municipal stage which included participating in important discussions, decisions, and events that have made up life in the District of Taylor over that time.Â
From local issues and concerns to long-term plans as the community has evolved, she has had a seat at the table for it all.
Long-serving councillors are rare in municipal politics, and there is a great deal of value in the institutional knowledge that councillors with such extensive experience are able to provide.Â
Ponto’s experience has provided some continuity through changes in council and the shifting of priorities over time, as well as a perspective that comes with years of experience in local government.
The experience also allowed for memories of supporting community efforts and participating in decisions which helped to shape the direction of the municipality. Councillors at the table all noted her presence, experience, and public service.
The District of Taylor recognized Councillor Ponto’s incredible milestone by thanking her for her continued service.
