The opening reception for the newest exhibit at Peace Gallery North was held on August 1 in Fort St. John

‘Stitched’ is a solo exhibit by North Peace mixed media artist Barbara Daley, who combines photography and fiber arts to create captivating collages and wonderful artistic expressions.

For more than 45 years, Barb has made her home in the North Peace Region, and she’s been creating art for much longer than that. Her love for multi-media work began with her mother, who first taught her the art of sewing according to Peace Gallery North.

“I have loved art my whole life,” said Daley. “My mother was very creative, and my dad was fairly artistic too, but it wasn’t something I pursued in life. My creative side was always on the back burner though, and after I had three little boys I started quilting, which got me started in the Peace Country Quilters.”

“I used to work with the infant development program at the CDC, and that also led me into it. I really enjoyed being a deaf and blind intervener in the School District, because it was very creative.”

This inventive exhibit will be on display at Peace Gallery North until August 31, and is free to enjoy during the gallery hours, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Part of the proceeds from the exhibit will support the Canada Ukraine Foundation according to Peace Gallery North.
