An investigation into the residence was initiated by the Street Enforcement Team, which led police to execute a search warrant on Monday, June 10. While conducting the search warrant police located evidence of trafficking of illicit cannabis and psilocybin. The search resulted in 1 male being arrested and released pending further investigation according to a media release on the RCMP website.

Approximately $26,000 in cash was located by police with 5 kilograms of suspected cannabis, 700 grams of psilocybin, and 2.7 kilograms of cannabis edibles. Two vehicles were also seized during the search warrant, one vehicle that had been used to traffic the contraband, and another vehicle which is believed to be proceeds of crime.
Â
Through the investigation police learned that youth had been frequenting the residence, and RCMP believe that the suspect was trafficking to the youth.
Â
A/Cpl. Connor Watson stated in a media release, “this recent search warrant is a continuing effort from the Street Enforcement Team to suppress the trafficking of contraband in Fort St John. The presence of youth at the residence was concerning which made this a priority for the police.
Â
While the matter is still under investigation, RCMP want parents to be aware that illicit edible and dab-pen packaging may appear like regular candy packaging. Cannabis Regulations do not allow for packaging to be enticing to children or youth.
