Two students from Fort St. John are bringing home the gold medal for a provincial skills competition that recently took place.

Students Josh Coenders and Nolan Cote from NPSS have won the gold medal in Robotics at the 2025 Skills Canada BC Provincial Competition, which was held at the Abbotsford Trade and Exhibition Centre on April 16.
Their amazing performance has earned them the honour of representing Team BC during this year’s National Skills Competition, which takes place in Regina, Saskatchewan, between May 28-31.
With more than 5,000 spectators and close to 500 competitors across 60 different trades and technology fields, 2025 was the largest event in this competition’s history according to a release.
Skills Canada British Columbia coordinates and leads youth engagement in technology and trades careers in our province, stating ‘today’s youth become tomorrow’s skilled trades and technology leaders,” on their website.
SCBC is helping to tackle the skills shortage in our province by actively involving thousands of young people in hands-on competitions, programs, and events that highlight careers in skilled trades and technology.
