One person has died following a collision between an SUV and a tanker truck on Highway 97 North, just outside Fort St. John, on Monday afternoon.

Local RCMP responded to a collision report just North of FSJ on Highway 97 North at the 269 Road, involving multiple vehicles as it was reported that a SUV had collided with a tanker truck on August 1, at around 1:40pm.

The BC Ambulance Service responded swiftly to the scene, as well as the Local RCMP and the Charlie Lake and Fort St. John Fire Departments.

It was determined that the SUV was traveling southbound and had failed to stop for the red light, resulting in a collision with a tanker truck which had been turning left onto Highway 97 from the 269 Road according to the RCMP.

The SUV’s driver was pronounced deceased at the scene and the highway was closed while an examination was conducted by the RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services.
