Multiple arrests and firearm charges following a rage incident

Four arrests were made after a road rage incident near Fort St. John which resulted in the seizure of drugs, cash, firearms and ammunition on August 31.

Local RCMP responded to a report that an individual had pointed a firearm at another vehicle in response to a road rage incident around 11am near Baldonnel Road and Highway 97.

 

The Police quickly located the suspect vehicle and four individuals who are known to police were taken into custody in Taylor, BC, a short time later following a high-risk takedown, according to the RCMP media release.

A search warrant was executed on the vehicle after the individuals were arrested, where RCMP located a carbine rifle, handgun, ammo, drugs and cash.

 

“This incident escalated rapidly and posed a significant risk to everyone in the area. Thanks to the public’s timely report, RCMP members were able to locate the suspect vehicle within 10 minutes and apprehend all the involved parties without incident”, said Constable Christiaan Dreyer, Media Relations Officer with the Fort St. John RCMP.

 

35-year-old Travis Dion Sharyk has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Occupying a Vehicle Knowing there was a Restricted Firearm in it and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm. Sharyk is also facing charges for Failure to Comply with a Probation Order, Possession of a Weapon Contrary to an Order, and Possession of Ammunition Contrary to an Order.

 

40-year-old Jolene Christine Wilders has also been charged with Occupying a Vehicle Knowing there was a Restricted Firearm in it, Failure to Comply with a Release Order and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm according to the release.

 

The two other females who were arrested with Sharyk and Wilders were released with court dates and conditions.
