The smell of fresh pine and cinnamon hung in the air at Peace Gallery North last weekend, as shoppers drifted from table to table browsing everything from beautiful paintings, canned goods, painted saws, crystal books, and unique jewelry at this year’s Christmas market.

The month-long Christmas Market opened at the Gallery on November 28, and will remain open until Christmas eve, presenting a wonderful collection of colorful art and other goods for guests to browse as they navigate the holiday season.

The Alaska Highway News lingered longer than planned, chatting with familiar faces while discovering new makers we hadn’t met before. For many residents, the market has become a favourite stop for finding meaningful, locally made gifts that you simply won’t find on big-box shelves.

The Gallery’s regular hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm until December 23, and the special Christmas Eve hours on December 24th are 10am-1pm.

In a season often rushed and hectic, the market offers a rare moment to slow down, appreciate local craft, and enjoy the warmth of a community that shows up for one another.
