A member of the BC Highway patrol in Fort St. John initiated a traffic stop on Sunday, May 26, after the police observed a brown Infiniti QX4 SUV traveling southbound on 100th Street. The police identified the driver as a 49-year-old male from Fort St John who noted signs of impairment.
Police noticed a drug on the driver as well as indications of impairment, so they proceeded to question the individual who stated he had consumed cocaine the night prior. The police officer began an impaired driving investigation, which included a Standardized Field Sobriety Test.
The individual was then arrested for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance according to a media release by the Fort St John RCMP, and was taken to the Hospital for blood samples.
The driver was served a driving prohibition and released after a search of the vehicle was conducted by the police, where they located over 30 grams of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine.
The BC Highway patrol wants to encourage our readers to immediately call police if they observe a vehicle, they suspect is involved in drug trafficking.
