The Fish Creek Wildfire has continued to move northeast, and the BC Wildfire Service has taken over the firefighting efforts from the Fort St. John Fire Department as of May 2.

Residents who were evacuated in the North Peace yesterday are being told they can return to their homes as the fire continues to travel away from the city.
Â
The fire remains out of control as of noon on May 2, while BC Wildfire crews worked throughout the night, using the advantage of cooler temperatures which usually results in a lower fire activity.
Â
The wildfire crews had their work cut out for them as they tried to limit the northward spread of the blaze and are currently working in steep and challenging terrain. Helicopters have been assisting the crews by cooling hotspots ahead of their arrival.
Â
The wildfire is being managed in unified command with Fort St. John Fire Rescue as of May 2nd, meaning they will continue to work together in order to establish common objectives, tactics, strategies, and information sharing.
