There’s something special about the way Fort St. John rallies together, and this year’s Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen was another reminder of that.

On Thursday, Aug. 14, the store was filled with families, friends and coworkers who all stopped in for a Blizzard to beat the heat while making a difference for kids who need it most.

The Fort St. John Dairy Queen hosted the heartwarming Miracle Treat Day alongside hundreds of locations across Canada, selling more than 1600 Blizzards supporting and helping get kids the care they need.

“What stood out most wasn’t just the lineups or the number of Blizzards leaving the building, but the sense of pride in supporting something bigger than ourselves,” said Todd Buck, father of Bensyn who has spent more than 230 days in the Children’s Hospital so far in 2025. “Our family has all but moved into the Children’s Hospital this year, and it’s amazing to see the support for the hospital in the North Peace.”

More than $4,200 was raised through public donations, while the donation from the sales of Blizzards on Miracle Treat Day reached a staggering $10,393.66, making the total donated to BC Children's Hospital $14,627.12 this year.

“I’m thankful to Dairy Queen for supporting BC Children’s Hospital through Miracle Treat Day,” said Cailey McLarry, Bensyn’s mom. “This hospital has done so much for Bensyn and our family, as well as so many other children and families. It’s really amazing to see everything that goes into this place. Believe me when I say every single donation matters! Thank you Dairy Queen, and everyone who made it out to support Miracle Treat Day.”

For over 40 years, Dairy Queens across Canada have been raising millions of dollars for the Children’s Miracle Network, giving back to children and families in need of specialized health care. Since 1984, DQ Canada has raised over $55 million for children’s hospitals across the country, more than $2.3 million of which was raised last year on Miracle Treat Day.

Over 700 restaurants across the country will be participating once again this year, with proceeds going towards advancing treatment, building child-friendly places to heal and fund critical research.
