Police in the region confirmed on Friday that they are looking for 29-year-old Jesse Thompson Twain, whose mother told Alaska Highway News that she has given her DNA to police.

Twain was last seen on or around October 10 and was reported missing to Fort St. John RCMP on October 12.

In a news release, the RCMP describe Twain as five feet six inches tall, 152 pounds, with short brown hair and a beard and brown eyes. He also has scars from burns on his arms, hands, ears and mouth, as well as a number of tattoos including Chinese writing on the back of his neck, death before dishonor across his chest, the number 13 on his hand and an alien on his stomach.

Twain’s mother told Alaska Highway News that police asked for her DNA after a body was found in a burned car in the Kiskatinaw area earlier this month. “The waiting is unbearable. We just want answers and for Jesse to come home,” she said.

Police are asking for the community’s help in finding Twain, and for residents to share his photo and description as widely as possible. The call for public assistance comes as concern about violent crime in northeastern B.C. has grown in recent years.

Twain’s disappearance follows several serious incidents in the region, including an unsolved homicide in which a body was found in a burned car in the Kiskatinaw area on October 4.

RCMP in Dawson Creek are currently asking for tips regarding a silver 2005 Mazda 6, possibly bearing Alberta plates, which was found burned near the Kiskatinaw River along 251 Road on October 13, 2025, according to a release. E Division’s Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation after human remains were discovered inside the burned vehicle.

“All indications suggest that this is a homicide, and police look to the public to help further the investigation. We are looking to speak to anyone that may have knowledge of this incident, or that had seen a grey 2005 Mazda 6” said Supt Wijayakoon of the BC-RCMP in a media release.

Police say they’d like to speak with anyone who noticed smoke or anything out of the ordinary in the days leading up to the discovery.

Investigators have not confirmed whether the two cases are linked, but the timing and location of the incidents have made people in the community uneasy.

Many have taken to social media in recent days to share RCMP updates and to express hope that both cases will soon be solved.

As investigators continue their search for answers, friends and family say their only wish is for Jesse to be found and for the truth to come to light.
