Officials say the new timeline for reopening is unconfirmed as summer demand peaks.

Crews from the Peace River Regional District including operators, plumbers, electricians, and engineers have been working at the Boundary Lake water station, testing the new treatment system to make sure it’s running properly. It has been determined that the equipment isn’t ready to treat water just yet.

More parts are needed to stabilize the incoming water pressure at the station according to the media release on June 30th. Those components have been ordered, but installation and further testing are on hold until they arrive. Right now, there’s no confirmed delivery date for the additional equipment.

Once the new parts are in place, water samples will be taken and sent to Northern Health for testing. The station can only reopen after the samples pass inspection and Northern Health gives official approval.
