Locals were invited to the Caffeination Station to enjoy a warm coffee and complimentary baked goods on December 9, where members of the construction team were present to answer questions regarding the project’s progress. There were plenty of delicious snacks and no shortage of hot coffee, while community members who attended received Enbridge giveaways.

“I think the biggest thing that events such as this do, is they turn Industry into a person,” said Jessica Davenport, owner of the Caffeination Station in Taylor, BC. "Now, to each of my customers who were given a blanket and a handshake from either Tom or Michelle, the industry representatives that were there from Enbridge, when we picture Enbridge, we're going to picture them. So, it's not just going to be what they do, but also what they give back. I think that events like this strengthen our community, because it humanizes each of us and instead of just being the Caffeination Station in Enbridge, now we're Tom, and we're Michelle and we're Jessica. "

Compressor Station 1B (CS-1B) Wǫchiigii is an electric-powered compressor station that is part of the Aspen Point Program located South of Taylor. This project, which plans to be completed before the end of 2026 by Enbridge is needed to meet the growing regional demands for reliable and affordable natural gas and west coast LNG exports according to the release.

“As we near the halfway mark of completing construction of the Aspen Point Program, we want the community to know how much we appreciate their continued patience and support. This event is a small gesture of our appreciation and an opportunity for us to connect directly with the community members while enjoying our morning cup of coffee,” said Dave Challoner, Enbridge Manager of Projects and Aspen Point Program Project Lead.

Previous Enridge events were successfully held at the Caffeination Station where the community had the opportunity to meet team members and discuss the project over a hot cup of coffee. In total, 18 kilometers of new pipeline will be installed before thew project is done according to their website.

"People in the north work very, very hard, and they spend many, many days and hours away from their family, and they sacrifice,” said Davenport. “Every single day and rarely do we truly get to just treat them, but every single day they support me and I send them off to work, and I see them, leaving their families to drive on our treacherous roads and through our treacherous temperatures," said Davenport. "All of these companies make it possible for us to make a positive impact in our customers and neighbors' lives. And that's why it's so important."

For those who stopped in, the event offered more than coffee and baked goods, providing a chance for neighbours and industry to meet face to face and continue a conversation that will carry on as work on the Aspen Point Program moves ahead.
