This honor recognizes Dr. Finkelstein’s outstanding dedication and contributions to teaching and mentorship throughout UBC’s province-wide medical programs according to the post. His ongoing commitment to guiding and inspiring students continues to strengthen the future of rural medicine.

Dr. Finkelstein is a preceptor with the Northern Medical Program, as well as the Site Co-Director for the UBC Family Medicine Residency Program in Prince George, Northern Rural & Rural Immersion Program, and still remains a dedicated family physician in Chetwynd, BC.

Despite being a busy teacher and administrator, Dr. Finkelstein remains dedicated to practicing family medicine right in Chetwynd.

“Our community of Chetwynd in Northern BC is so blessed to have Dr. Finklestein,” said Kim Wheeler, Chetwynd resident. “My husband and I used to go to Dawson Creek to see our doctor before he left. A month later, Dr. Finklestein came here.

“I am so grateful for him and all he has been doing here for us in Chetwynd and the area! Since arriving he has accomplished so much here and now has earned a very deserved award. Hopefully more of the residents training under him will come back to stay!”

Those who know Dr. Finkelstein say the award couldn’t have gone to a more deserving person. He has made a lasting difference for both his patients in Chetwynd and the young doctors learning from his example.
