A local athlete is driving dreams and on par for glory

North Peace golfer Levi Fowler will be competing at the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games.

The Special Olympics BC (SOBC) Summer Games will be held July 10 – 12 in Prince George and will be the first provincial summer games hosted since 2017 since the games in 2021 were forced to cancel due to the pandemic.


More than 400 volunteer coaches and staff will be supporting the more than 1,200 athletes from all over B.C. and the Yukon with intellectual disabilities according to specialolympics.ca.


The 2025 SOBC Games will consist of 10 sports including 10-pin bowling, basketball, bocce, golf, softball, rhythmic gymnastics, soccer, powerlifting, swimming, and track and field.


In order to compete in the 2025 SOBC Games athletes had to first qualify through their performances in the Regional Qualifiers which were held around the province from February to July in 2024.


The top athletes and performers from the Prince George summer game swill qualify for a spot on Team BC, after which they will compete at the 2026 Special Olympic Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta.


The Canada Summer Games are a qualifier for the 2027 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Santiago, Chile.


The Special Olympics FSJ annual charity golf tournament is being held at Links Golf Course on June 21st.
