The final phase of the 100th Street construction is currently being completed in Fort St John, which is part of the cities push to enhance the functionality and safety of our roadways while creating a more accessible and attractive downtown.
Between 103 Ave and 105 Ave, 100 Street will be closed during the duration of this phase of the project to replace the aging underground infrastructure while upgrading sidewalks, traffic signals, street lighting and landscaping.
This project followed a public engagement process that was held in 2019 to gather input from the community regarding improving above-ground public spaces.
According to the City, the project will ensure that 100 Street will remain a major transportation corridor while becoming increasingly more attractive and enjoyable to support the thriving and vibrant downtown of Fort St John.
Knappett Industries, who also completed the previous phases was awarded this project by Council for $9.75 million earlier this year, which has been funded by non- property tax revenues including the Peace River Agreement and water and sewer reserves.

This project is expected to wrap up in the early fall, however all business will remain open though access might be modified while a detour route is in place using 102 and 98 Street, between 110 and 103 Avenue.
We remind our readers to obey all signage and traffic control personnel, and to slow down while traveling near working crews.
