The idea is simple and impactful as 100 women, each contributing $100, come together for one evening to support one local cause. Their combined donations raise at least $10,000 for a non-profit chosen by vote at the end of the night. The more who take part, the greater the difference they make.
The 100 Women Who Care Fort St. John group has raised $188,230 for local nonprofits, charities and organizations since they first started meeting according to a release.
“The way our community comes together to support one another is something we are very proud of,” the organizing committee said in a release. “Each time we have an event, we see just how much can be accomplished when women get together and act.”The 100 Women Who Care Fort St. John event featured presentations from groups that were nominated including the Fort St. John Literacy Society, the Fort St. John Seniors’ Care Foundation and the Fort St. John Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102.
Each group had the opportunity to provide information about their organization and the programs and services they offer in our community. The Fort St. John Literacy Society discussed its mission to make literacy a priority for people of all ages and asked for donations to help fund their programs for another year.
The Fort St. John Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102 shared about their work to support veterans and the community. The Legion is requesting help with its operating costs, such as utilities and maintenance, to continue providing services.
The Fort St. John Seniors’ Care Foundation talked about many of the programs that it offers to seniors in the community, such as meal subsidies and housekeeping, as well as live music, Red Hat Teas, monthly bingo, transportation to events and semi-annual jamborees.
“The beauty of this event is in its simplicity—together, in just one evening, we can make a $10,000+ difference. It shows what happens when women come together with one shared goal: supporting our community,” stated Bailey Ryder in a media release.
“And it’s not just about giving, it’s about connecting. This night is a chance to network, to share stories, and to celebrate the incredible local groups making a difference in Fort St. John,” said Annette Lang.
The next 100 Women Who Care Fort St. John event will take place on March 10, 2026, at The Lido Theatre. Nominations are open for groups, nonprofits and charities in need of support. If you would like to nominate a local group to be considered for the March 2026 event, please email info@100womenscarefsj.com
