Firefighters across the region gather for pre-season training in preparation for 2025 wildfires.

Hundreds of firefighters from municipal departments, First Nations communities, and the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) are gathering in Penticton for the Wildfire Resiliency and Training Summit.
The event offers an opportunity to train, exchange knowledge, and explore new technologies and best practices in preparation for the 2025 wildfire season.
“We don’t know exactly what this wildfire season will bring, but I want British Columbians to know that we are working hard every day to be ready,” said Ravi Parmar, Minister of Forests. “With year-round operations, cutting-edge technology and strong partnerships with First Nations and local fire departments, we’re putting in the work to protect our communities.”
In preparation for the upcoming wildfire season, the Province is prioritizing community safety by strengthening all four pillars of emergency management: prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery according to the release.
The Wildfire Resiliency and Training Summit unites First Nations and local government representatives, wildfire mitigation experts, emergency management, and firefighters to engage in training alongside the BC Wildfire Service.
The summit also serves as a forum to share knowledge and explore the latest advancements in wildfire prevention, mitigation, and technology.
