The three new specialists include Dr. Akindele, Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Dr. Van Wiltenburg, Radiologist, and Dr. Montazeripouragha whom will be working out of the Fort St. John Hospital.

“I was fascinated by the idea of a birthing centre when I got to Fort St. John for a locum, “said Dr. Akindele in the announcement. “Our motto for Florence Women’s Health Services which I operated in St. Paul was ‘women are already special; we just make them feel so’.  I’d always longed to be a part of a team that focused on making birth both safe and special.  I think I found a perfect fit!”

Dr. Akindele has worked as an Obstetrician Gynaecologist since December 2009 in St Paul, Alberta according to the announcement.

Before relocating to Fort St. John, Dr. Van Wiltenburg practiced at the Royal Columbian Hospital in the community of New Westminster.

“After 25+ years practicing interventional radiology at a tertiary care centre, it was time for a change and to fill a need in diagnostic radiology for the good people of the North” said Dr. Robert Van Wiltenburg in the announcement.

Of the six new family physicians, none are accepting new patients while almost all of them expressed their appreciation for the North Peace.

“It’s nice to work in Fort St. John because it’s quiet and people are friendly. I also want to give back to the community as I completed my residency program here,” said Dr. Gary Dhadda, who will be working out of the ABC Medical Clinic and is taking over Dr. Rebecca Delmotte’s practice.

Dr. Baban is based at the ABC Medical Clinic where he has taken over Dr. Nusrat Khandker’s practice. “I am honoured to have the privilege to fulfill the health needs of the people in Fort St. John and the outskirts,” said Dr. Baban.
