Suspect arrested following shots fired in Fort Nelson (Update)

Multiple tips came into the RCMP following the original media release for shots fired in Fort Nelson on January 19, leading to the arrest of one individual who will appear in court on April 23, 2026.

A search warrant was executed at a residence in Fort Nelson First Nation on January 22, following several tips from the community which led to a suspect being identified.

The RCMP say the 28-year-old man from Fort Nelson is well known to local police and was arrested in relation to the gunshots, however, they released him until his provincial court date in hopes he keeps the peace.
