An Agricultural Emergency Response Plan that outlines how to prepare and respond to emergencies has been released by the Peace River Regional District for farmers, producers and processors within the region.

The regional agricultural emergency response plan will help local farmers during all phases of an emergency from preparedness, response and recovery. It also describes how emergency management functions in B.C. and highlights roles, responsibilities and contact information within the sector.

According to the PRRD, the plan includes recommendations on what actions should be taken before, during, and after emergencies, along with guidance related to specific hazards that could affect agriculture across the region.

Included in the plan are topics such as hazards, risk reduction, evacuations, communication and agriculture-specific resources.

You can view the Agricultural Emergency Response Plan at prrd.bc.ca/AERP, and for more information, contact the PRRD’s Protective Services Department at 250-784-3200 or via email at protective.services@prrd.bc.ca.
