The program which begins on March 23 and runs through June, is organized by the Northern Innovation Network bringing founders and investors together through a pitch competition where the winner receives a $100,000 investment to help grow their business.

Applications are still open for up to 24 entrepreneurs looking to pitch their ideas, as well as 20 Angel Investors interested in backing early-stage companies. Visionary Founders are entrepreneurs who are currently operating and based in Northern B.C. building thriving companies who are at the same time looking for early investment.

For Investors who attend the program, this event is an opportunity for potential deals while learning how to evaluate early-stage companies alongside experienced angel investors.

The summit is all set to launch for March 23, starting with a series of workshops and pitch rounds designed to help entrepreneurs in refining their ideas while learning how to attract investment according to the website. The deadline for applying is March 16, while founders selected for the program will receive hands-on support developing their business pitches and building relationships with potential investors.

“The Northern Angel Summit has demonstrated that Northern BC has both the entrepreneurial talent and the investor interest needed to build a strong regional capital ecosystem,” says Mary Mytting, Executive Director of Northern Innovation Network. “This program is creating real pathways to funding while keeping capital, innovation, and economic growth rooted in the North.”

The quarterfinals and semifinal rounds are currently planned to be held in both Prince George and Fort St. John, while also allowing online participation through Zoom according to the release.

Organizers have said an Innovation Showcase including all 24 Founders will be held during the finale event, giving Founders the opportunity to present their ideas in a trade-show style setting. The addition ensures every participant can highlight their innovation, even if they do not advance to the final pitch round. Even if founders don’t make it through to the Finale to pitch, they utilize this exclusive opportunity to present their ideas in an event that resembles a mini trade show.

The summit wraps up on June 26, with a live finale at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre, during which finalists will pitch their ventures for the $100,000 angel investment prize.

Applications and tickets for the finale are available through the summit’s website.
