Twice a year, once in March and once in September, this amazing initiative brings woman from this community together to help make a difference for one local non-profit organization. Since this initiative’s launch in 2017, the group has successfully raised more than $188,000 to support those organizations through 11 wonderful events, which have been hosted in the North Peace.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Lido Theatre on March 10, 5:30pm sharp according to the organizers, with tickets costing $100 each. All the money from the ticket sales goes directly to the winning organization as the initiative is completely volunteer run, with each volunteer donating energy, time and skills to make the event possible.

“This event only works because of the generosity of our sponsors and our volunteers,” says Tara Waddy, steering committee member. “Thanks to partners like The Lido Theatre and the North Peace Community Foundation, we’re able to ensure that every single dollar collected from attendees goes directly to the local group that’s chosen.”

The core idea is simple with each person who attends contributing $100 to the cause, the money is then collected and donated to one of the three nominated organizations that evening. The three nominations for the event in March are the Fort St. John Men’s Shed, KidSport – North Peace, and Friends of the Fort St. John Public Library.

“All of the groups must be local, and the funds raised have to create a direct local impact,” explains Alisha Cobbett. “We want to make sure that the money raised in this room stays in this community and supports organizations that are doing important work right here in Fort St. John.”

The event gives the nominees several minutes each to introduce and represent their cause while explaining what they would be using the funds for were they to win. Following the presentations, attendees are given time to consider and cast their votes to determine which organization would receive a helping hand from 100 Women Who Care.

“We’ve seen time and time again that even groups that don’t win still gain something really valuable,” says Estefania Albornoz. “They get a platform to share what they do, and very often attendees reach out afterward to offer support, donate directly, or volunteer. In that sense, everyone walks away a winner.”

The Fort St. John Royal Canadian Legion was the winning organization from the previous event in September 2025, and will also attend this event and share with the initiative the difference it has made how they used their $10,200.
