Local RCMP responded to a report of an unknown male holding a handgun while attempting to enter a residence located near 111th Avenue and Peace River Road in Fort St. John, just after 6pm on December 30.

A containment area was set up by the Fort St. John RCMP officers who responded swiftly to the reports, and after numerous callouts were made by the officers, a male suspect surrendered to the police without incident according to the release.
Police located an individual who had been assaulted during the incident and seized a loaded firearm at the scene which had not been discharged. The RCMP arrested two additional individuals at the scene in connection to the incident, and will be held as the investigation continues. The male suspect who was holding the gun will remain in custody until court according to the release, where they should face numerous charges associated with firearms and assault.
“This incident was an isolated targeted incident where both the suspect and the victim are known to police,” said Sergeant Dwayne Croll, Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of Operational Support. “Charges have not yet been approved so no names are being released at this time.”
