Kerry-Lynne Findlay was elected leader of the party on May 30 after a closely contested race that went four rounds before being decided. In the final round, Findlay edged out Caroline Elliott by a margin of 51 per cent to 49 per cent.

“Congratulations to the new leader of the Conservative Party of BC,” wrote Conservative MLA Larry Neufeld online. “It is time for everyone to work together to defeat the NDP Government.”
Findlay brings a lengthy resume to the position. She previously served as a Member of Parliament for South Surrey–White Rock and Delta–Richmond East, and held cabinet roles under former prime minister Stephen Harper, including Minister of National Revenue and Associate Minister of National Defence. She also served as Chief Opposition Whip under federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.
“Congratulations to the new Conservative Party of BC leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay,” wrote Peace River North’s independent MLA Jordan Kealy online. “I didn't plan on coming to the party convention announcement, but my flight was canceled to Fort St. John because of weather delays.”
Outside politics, Findlay is a lawyer whose work has included civil litigation, family law, employment law, mediation, and Indigenous land issues according to the Conservative Party’s website.
With the leadership race now behind her, Findlay's next challenge will be uniting party members and building support across a province where priorities can vary greatly between regions such as the Lower Mainland and northern B.C.
