The 29 year old Jesse Twain from Edmonton, Alberta, has been identified as the victim in a recent homicide close to Dawson Creek, amidst a spike in gang related crime in the Peace Region.

Twain’s mother told Alaska Highway News that police asked for her DNA after a body was found in a burned car in the Kiskatinaw area earlier this month.

The DNA confirmed the remains of Twain, who was last seen around October 10 and was reported missing to Fort St. John RCMP on October 12.

“All indications suggest that this is a homicide, and police look to the public to help further the investigation. We are looking to speak to anyone that may have knowledge of this incident, or that had seen a grey 2005 Mazda 6” said Supt Wijayakoon of the BC-RCMP in a media release.

Twain's mother has stated her heart and soul are hurting, and she will be sending him off in an traditional Ojibwa way to be remembered as the warrior he was.

Twain’s death follows a series of gang-related incidents that have unsettled communities throughout the Peace Region.

The investigation remains active, and police are asking for the public’s assistance. Anyone with information about Jesse Twain or the circumstances surrounding his death is urged to contact the dedicated information line at 1-877-987-8477.
