An open letter to the community of Tumbler Ridge

In the wake of the heartbreaking tragedy at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, all of us at Alaska Highway News stand in solidarity with the community during this time of unimaginable loss.

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn alongside you. We offer our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones, to the youth whose lives have been forever changed, and to every student, educator, first responder, and resident carrying the weight of this tragedy.

No community should ever have to endure such profound sorrow, and yet in moments like these, we are reminded of the strength, compassion, and resilience that define a community.

We grieve for the young lives taken far too soon, for the families now facing an unfillable void, and for all those who must carry the emotional scars of this day.

Your pain is shared far beyond your community, and your loss is felt deeply across the Peace Region and beyond.

In times of darkness, it is the bonds between neighbours, friends, and families that help guide the path forward. We stand with you as you support one another, honour those who were lost, and begin the long journey toward healing.
