The FSJ Hospital Foundation launches its 2025 scrap drive with ABC Recycling this weekend, which is a friendly competition to see which community group and individuals can bring in the most scrap to raise money for local health care.

All proceeds will remain local and go directly to the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation to help improve health care in the North Peace. The community helped raise over $26,000 last year, and the goal for 2025 is double those numbers according to the media release.

The top donor will walk away with bragging rights and the distinctive Bischoff Trophy—a custom-made cowboy hat crafted entirely from scrap metal by Bischoff Welding.

This one-of-a-kind creation doubles as a trophy and a conversation piece and will be proudly showcased in the winner’s office until next year’s contest.

The honour went to Pat Doyle in 2024, representing PETRONAS.

You can participate by dropping off your metal at ABC Recycling in Fort St. John or give them a call and they'll pick it up for you.

You’ll be able to follow the online leaderboard to see how your total compares to other teams in the community according to the release.
