A service alert was recently put out by the City of Fort St. John regarding the closure of the FSJ Bulk Water Station located at 10715 116 Street. Starting Wednesday, July 3, the Bulk Water Station will be closed due to parking lot reconstruction.
“I understand the upcoming parking lot reconstruction project at the Fort St. John Bulk Water Station has raised concerns. First and foremost, I want to reassure all users that the City has no plans to shut down the Fort St. John Bulk Water Station,” stated Mayor Lilia Hansen in a media release on June 26.
While closed, residential users can use the Charlie Lake Bulk Water Station, which is located at 13074 Lakeshore Drive. Commercial users in the Peace River region can utilize alternative bulk water stations, which include the following:
· PRRD Stations: Buick, Boundary Lake, Feye Spring, and Prespatou
· City of Dawson Creek
· District of Taylor
“Regarding the Fort St. John Bulk Water Station parking lot reconstruction project, I want to provide some clarity. The planned 19-day closure from July 3 to July 22 is a conservative estimate,” said Mayor Lilia Hansen. “We are optimistic that, with favourable weather, the closure might be reduced to 14 days. We are working closely with the contractor to expedite the project while ensuring its quality. We acknowledge the frustration this temporary closure may cause and understand the critical importance of water access. We are doing everything possible to minimize the interruption and restore full functionality swiftly.”
According to a media release from the Peace River Regional District (PRRD), the date for re-opening is Monday, July 22.
