A recent drug trafficking investigation in Fort St. John has resulted in the execution of a search warrant, two arrests, and the seizure of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Fort St. John RCMP Street Enforcement Team (SET) executed a search warrant on July 31at a Fort St. John residence on 103 Avenue as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

Police located a tablet manufacturing operation at the residence during the search warrant along with a large quantity of drugs, pill presses and precursor chemicals commonly used to manufacture illicit drugs, and two firearms.

“Successfully targeting this drug trafficking group was a high priority for our unit and we are committed to continuing to target drug trafficking in the community,” said Sgt Ian Rissanen of the Plain Clothes Unit. “The discovery of the tablet manufacturing operation is very concerning because some tablets located were pressed to appear as legitimate pharmaceutical medications”

The two suspects, a 42-year-old man and a 49-year-old man, were released from custody while awaiting a decision from the Public Prosecution Service of Canada on whether they can be approved for charges according to the media release.

Local RCMP are reminding North Peace residents to report suspected drug trafficking in your community.
