Music in the Park brings local music and art to Centennial Park
Music, local vendors and a little bit of chalk art took over Centennial Park on Aug. 6, as Music in the Park returned for another summer evening bringing people together around some of the talent found here in the Peace.
The free outdoor concert ran from 6 to 9 p.m., with Joseph te Bulte, Locust and Honey and Kimberley MacGregor taking the stage throughout the evening, alongside an artisan market featuring local makers and a beer garden.
There was also something a little different happening around the stage this time, with the Fort St. John Arts Council putting together a community chalk mural, giving people another way to take part in the evening beyond the music.
“What an amazing night for Music in the Park! Thank you to the city, Surrerus, Fort St. John Curling Club, our talented musicians Joseph Te Bulte, Kimberley MacGregor, and Locust and Honey, our fantastic vendors, and everyone that showed up,” the Arts Council wrote following the event.
“We’re so happy that our Art Council’s community chalk mural on the stage was a success. We’ll see everyone again next year!”
Music in the Park is a free outdoor concert series built around regional music and arts, with the summer events also bringing together local makers and a family-friendly atmosphere for those looking to spend an evening outside in the community.
The Aug. 6 evening marked the final Music in the Park event for this year, wrapping up the summer series for another season, with the Arts Council already letting the community know the event will be back again next year.
